My favorite TV show is NCIS. I love mysteries and crime shows. My favorite channel is Investigation Discovery (ID). I have learned to limit how much I watch that channel and which shows on it I will watch. Too much of the horrible, violent stuff on there is not good for my mind.
What we feed our mind has an impact on our soul. If we continue to feed our mind with negatively, sooner or later we will become cynical. Likewise, we cannot make anything other than God a priority in our life or that priority will consume our life. Are you focused on making money? Then that is your god. Are you focused on your hobby? Than that is your god. Is it a sport? A person? An event? When we put something other than God first, we become a slave to it. And that is a sin.
Exodus 20:3 “You must not have any other god but me. "
So, as the song says :
