Seen and Not Heard. Matthew 18:6-7, 10

"Children should be seen and not heard". We've all heard and maybe said (jokingly, I hope) this phrase before. This is, however, a perfect summary of what a servant of Christ should be like.

Jesus tells us to become like little children. He is telling us is to be humble, willing, believing, trusting and yes, seen and not heard. To be unremarkable in our serving, in the background, not looking for acclamations but serving in all humility. Not boastful or proud of our deeds.

As children of God, those who lead us astray, cause us to stumble and sin are in jeopardy of a greater punishment then the Christian who was lead into sin. Jesus is telling us it would be better for them to be drowned in the sea then face Him on their judgment day. And those that merely mock Christian's for their faith? Jesus tells them to "Beware", their angels, protectors, ministers are in the presence of God.

So what is their hope? Repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew 18:6:7, 10 NLT

6 But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in Me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.

7 “What sorrow awaits the world, because it tempts people to sin. Temptations are inevitable, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting.

10 “Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of My heavenly Father.

Blessings, Cecilia
