Guard Your Heart. Matthew 12:33-37 NLT

Several years ago David and I went to Sedona Arizona for a long weekend for our anniversary. We stayed at a nice little Bed and Breakfast. For lunch one day we went to a pizzeria that specialized in gluten free pizza. David has Celiac Sprue disease so is gluten free. Two hours later I started feeling sick. We had eaten the exact same thing for lunch, how could I have food poisoning and David not?  The difference was what we drank. David had lemonade and I had tea with a wedge of lemon. I got sicker as the day progressed. When we got back to the B & B David looked up food poisoning causes. Do you know the leading cause of food poisoning at restaurants is that little wedge of lemon or lime? Seems most only wash the cutting board and knife at the end of the day and bacteria builds up. Even if they wash the fruit, the dirty cutting board and knife contaminate the fruit. I now specify no lemon when ordering water or tea out.
If you take something clean and expose it to something dirty both are contaminated. It works that way with the heart too. If we expose our heart to the filth of the world, our heart becomes defiled. Eventually, what is in our heart is reflected in our words. Guard your heart, it's the window to the soul.
Matthew 12:33-37 NLT
33 “A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad. 34 You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. 35 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. 36 And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. 37 The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”
Blessings, Cecilia
