1 Timothy 6 Contentment

Contentment in Godliness
6Of course, godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into the world, andb neither can we carry anything out of it. 8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these.
9Those who want to be rich, however, fall into temptation and become ensnared by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. By craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

Who is your god? Are you content with the things you have or are you chasing the world by its tail? We thank God everyday for His blessings, our shelter, food, heat (7 months of winter), everything. Do you?

You have heard it said: The one who dies with the most toys wins!
Or, Have you ever seen a UHaul truck following a hearse?
Or, When I die I instruct you to bury me with ALL my money. After the funeral a friend asked the widow. Did you honor your husbands request? The widow stated, yes I did. I wrote him a check and inserted it before they closed the casket!

Joking aside, be content with everything God has given you. You may think it's not much but our God is a gracious God. Do not worry about tomorrow, God loves you and He will provide.

Recently at a men's conference an artist that works with artist grade chalk, had a business selling chalk. But it was failing, he mortgaged his home for the business, he had children to feed. What was he to do? He went out to his garage and said, I have a lawn mower, leaf blower, and a rake. He put them in his truck and drove down the road praying, Lord help me. He saw an elderly woman mowing her yard, he stopped and said I will finish it for $5. She said yes. He drove down the road and saw a man raking leaves, he said he would do it for $10. You get the picture. He made $50 that day. He now has two employees and a yard maintenance business, summers mowing and raking, and winters plowing snow. He still sells chalk and is renowned world wide.

Are you using the skills and knowledge God has given you?
Contentment in Godliness is the key.

Blessings, David
