I recently hear a story about my father I don't remember hearing before. He, my mom and another couple had gone out to dinner at a fancy restaurant. They did not have reservations and the wait was long. When my dad gave his name to the maitre d' he attached the title "Doctor" to the beginning of his name. They were quickly seated.
Titles come in handy when they get us what we want but when we become prideful of our title, we get in trouble. Here, Jesus teaches us to not let titles go to our head. Pride comes before a fall and falls hurt! Ive learned the hard way, when pride creeps in, repent quick!
Matthew 23:8-12 NLT
8“Don’t let anyone call you ‘Rabbi,’ for you have only one teacher, and all of you are equal as brothers and sisters. 9 And don’t address anyone here on earth as ‘Father,’ for only God in heaven is your spiritual Father. 10 And don’t let anyone call you ‘Teacher,’ for you have only one teacher, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you must be a servant. 12 But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
