I have suffered from insomnia in the past. I went for a seven year period fighting this problem. It is not fun. I sympathize with anyone who deals with insomnia. One of my favorite saying is "Sleep is highly overrated" .
The Disciples are about to miss an opportunity. They'll discover it later. Will there be regret? Peter will probably take it the hardest. Maybe if he hadn't slept, maybe if he had prayed when he was told to, maybe he wouldn't have denied Jesus.
Maybe that was Satans plan all along. Maybe because they weren't diligent, Satan was able to make their eyelids so heavy. Isn't that how Satan works even today? We let our guard down, even a little and he sees an opportunity to slip in an get us to stumble..... or sleep when we should be praying.

43 When He returned to them again, He found them sleeping, for they couldn’t keep their eyes open.
