1 Peter 1- You have been chosen!

To the elect, exiles of the Dispersion throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

Elect, those, chosen, aliens, strangers, temporary residents, exiles, those temporarily residing abroad, chosen ones who are living as foreigners, The Chosen Ones and Pilgrims, To God's chosen people who are temporary residents [in the world], those who reside as aliens, strangers scattered, elect who are sojourners, sojourners of [the] dispersion, God's own people scattered over the earth, chosen ones who are living as foreigners, choice sojourners of the dispersion.

Have you ever used a parallel bible? All the descriptions above are from one on biblehub.com
What do you glean from them?
Peter was writing to Christians who were scattered in the dispersion, in the areas listed in the verse.

I like this version;
"To God's chosen people who are temporary residents [in the world]"
This description describes Christians who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We are living for eternal life in heaven.
We are not of this world, not living as others in this world, not living for the world.
This is why we are; "God's chosen people who are temporary residents [in the world]".

When you "study" the Bible, study it in context, study a parallel bible, so you can grasp the full meaning of the verse, also study commentary from astute bible teachers and authors.

You have been chosen, so don't revert back to being a permanent resident of this world.

Blessings, David
