Are You Groping Through the Darkness? 1 John 2:7-11

1 John 2:7-11
Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning.
Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.
He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now.
He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.
But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
What's the first thing you do when you walk into a dark room? Turn on the light. The light exposes the room so we can see what's there. We can than walk through the room without stumbling and falling.
So if Jesus is the light, and you have Jesus in your heart, how can you have hatred towards others? The light (Jesus) illuminates your heart so there can be no darkness in it. There just isn't room for both.
You have a choice to make. Will you hold on to hatred and darkness or will you allow Jesus to shine in your heart? You just simple cannot have both. The darkness of hate will make you stumble and fall. The light of Jesus will show the way in love.
Now, I don't know about you but it's so much easier to make my way through a room with the light on then groping through the darkness.
Blessings, Cecilia
