1 John 3- Will you lay down your life?

and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. 17If anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God abide in him?

Everyone knows the parable of the Good Samaritan, Luke 10:30-36
In this parable there was a priest and a Levite that passed by the man in need and did nothing.

Verse 17 tells us if we have earthly possessions and see a brother in need but withhold compassion, the love of God doesn’t abide in him.

God had compassion on you didn’t He?

I recall one time in Tucson, a lady sitting on the curb in front of Walgreens, beaten to a pulp, wrapped in a blanket.
Watching the passerby’s reminded me of the parable of the Good Samaritan! All were looking down at her and ignoring her need.
Were they too busy, didn’t care or had no compassion for their fellow man?
We stopped and Cecilia attended to her needs, gave her a meal, prayed for her and offered assistance and a ride.
I don’t know about you but during the coming Judgement I wouldn’t want God telling me that I refused to give Him aid!

Matthew 25:44 And they too will reply, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?'

Will you lay down your life for a brother?

Blessings, David
