Genesis 27:38-40 The Yoke!

38Esau said to his father, “Do you have only one blessing, my father? Bless me too, O my father!” Then Esau wept aloud.
39His father Isaac answered him:
“Behold, your dwelling place shall be
away from the richness of the land,
away from the dew of heaven above.
40You shall live by the sword,
and serve your brother.
But when you rebel,
you will tear his yoke from your neck.”

Isaac gave Esau this limited blessing but Esau wanted a material blessing.

Esau was blessed and years later when Esau meets Jacob he says;
Genesis 33:9 (ESV)
9 But Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself.”

““Behold, your dwelling place shall be
away from the richness of the land,
away from the dew of heaven above.” Esau and his descendants will live as nomads, moving from place to place in the wilderness.

“You shall live by the sword” Esau was a skilled swordsman.

“and serve your brother.”
Esau will serve under his brother but not forever.

“But when you rebel,
you will tear his yoke from your neck.” The promise Esau will break the yoke of his brother and not forever serve or be under his brother Jacob.

We are born with a yoke around our necks, the yoke of sin.
Have you torn this yoke from your neck?
If not, seek Jesus with all your heart and He will give you the key for the lock to the yoke!

Blessings, David
