sacrifice ones own life for people that they don't know or even people that
don't like them is something special. Memorial Day in itself is not a
"Happy" occasion for the most part. It is an American holiday, observed on
the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving
in the U.S. military. The estimate from all the American wars, there have
been 651,008 Battle Deaths; and about 1.2 million deaths during service in
war time. It says in *John 15:13 No one has greater love [no one has shown
stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his
friends.* Today as we remember the loss and sacrifice of our past, may we
reflect on the ultimate sacrifice by Jesus Christ upon the cross for all of
mankind. May we not forget what this day is all about, not about a 3 day
weekend, a time to have a party and barbecue and go to sales. It is about
Love. Love for our country and love for our citizens. For all those who
have suffered loss and today is not easy, you are in my thoughts and
prayers. Brethren, and for us, everyday is a Memorial Day, because of the
sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
