A Call to Maturity
1Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith in God, 2instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3And this we will do, if God permits.
A call to Christians to be mature. When we were growing up did you ever hear the phrase, act your age? This was a call to act mature. It's no different for the Christian. Man inherently seems to think he has to do something for his salvation. The writer here reminds us anything we do for salvation is considered dead works.
How do we go on to maturity in Christ? It's simple, you believe salvation is a gift from God through Jesus Christ. You read and study His word daily. You follow instruction of baptism, laying on hands, and believe in the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgement. And if God permits we will become mature.
What is His will for you today?
Blessings, David
