Jesus Like His Brothers
5For it is not to angels that He has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. 6But somewhere it is testified in these words:
“What is man, that You are mindful of him,
or the son of man, that You care for him?
7You made him a little lower than the angels;
You crowned him with glory and honor
8and placed everything under his feet.”
The humility of Jesus!
But somewhere it is testified, Psalm 8:4-6 to be exact.
Psalm 8: 4what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them? 5You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. 6You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet.
These verses demonstrate the smallness of man but it also seems to be an unfulfilled promise. We do not see all things subjected to man.
Then there is Jesus, because of what He did on the cross He regained the dominion Adam had lost through sin. The promise of dominion could only be fulfilled through the humility, suffering and death of Jesus on the cross.
The Son of God defeated the evil (sin) Adam brought into the world - which was death (Romans 5:12). 12Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned.
Yesterday in Tucson AZ we lost a dear friend, Sandy Scheffel. She had gone into the hospital at the end of January for a heart operation and never recovered. She died the earthly appointed death, but because she "believed" in Jesus and what He did to overcome death, she now lives. Please pray for her husband Ken who has Parkinson's. We will grieve, but we also rejoice because she is at home with Jesus.
We will see her again.
Blessings, David
