Do not answer a fool!

There is only so much 1 person can do. Recently someone posted an account
of a local mission trip that they were on. The purpose in sharing was not
to bring attention to them self, but attention to the situation of another.
Many people do not realize it, and yet, they are only 1-2 paychecks away
from being homeless, on the street with no place to stay. Every one has a
story, and many times, others are too busy to listen and care. The story of
a young homeless woman, Jessica, from Virginia, was posted to Facebook. A
little help was given, a little hope was restored, a little love was shared
by another that had been in a similar situation before. It says in *Prov
21:13 Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor Will also cry himself
and not be heard.* and in *1 John 3:17 But whoever has this world’s goods,
and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the
love of God abide in him?* There are many ways to help the less fortunate.
I have heard it said, "If you cannot feed the world, feed one person".
After this story was shared, the attacks came. "Why didn't you do more?",
"It would of been better never to approached in the first place.", "Why
didn't you take her home and get her off the street?" I do not know the
heart of the man that said vicious things, but God does. *Prov 26:4 Do not
answer a fool according to his folly, Lest you also be like him.* The heart
of the matter is the matter of the heart. There are 3 primary people that
were affected by this mission trip. The person who took a step of faith,
the homeless woman, Jessica, who needed to know that someone cared, and the
man who attacked someone that they don't even know for doing a selfless
good work. May we pray for all 3 and for ourselves as well, to have
boldness to help the less fortunate, not become the less fortunate, and not
be judgmental to others for the works that they do.
