1The LORD gave these instructions to Moses: 2“Command the people of Israel to remove from the camp anyone who has a skin disease or a discharge, or who has become ceremonially unclean by touching a dead person. 3This command applies to men and women alike. Remove them so they will not defile the camp in which I live among them.” 4So the Israelites did as the LORD had commanded Moses and removed such people from the camp.
Purity
Camp purity and health was the Lords priority. Today with Covid we take precautions and isolate the infected people.
Recently my wife was exposed and the health department checked on her daily and as a precaution she stayed in our guest bedroom and wore a mask when we were in the same room.
When I was serving as a volunteer chaplain at the veterans home some of the veterans were infected with Mercer and the home was supposed to put up warnings on the doorway. I had interacted with a veteran who had Mercer because the doorway wasn’t properly marked. I prayed after the fact for protection and healing of the veteran and our Lord provided both.
“Probably this ordinance gave the first idea of a hospital, where all those who are afflicted with contagious disorders are put into particular wards, under medical treatment.” (Clarke)
