Genesis 17:23-27 Obedience May cause pain!

23Then Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household or purchased with his money—every male among the members of Abraham’s household—and he circumcised them that very day, just as God had told him.
24So Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised, 25and his son Ishmael was thirteen; 26Abraham and his son Ishmael were circumcised on the same day. 27And all the men of Abraham’s household—both servants born in his household and those purchased from foreigners—were circumcised with him.

Abraham was obedient to God with this cutting away of the flesh which set them apart with the ever lasting covenant.

Do you think this was painful?

In Genesis 34:24All the men who went out of the city gate agreed with Hamor and his son Shechem, and every male in the city was circumcised.
25Three days later, while all of them were still in pain, two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, took their swords and attacked the unsuspecting city, killing every male.

Being obedient to Gods word may cause us pain too, either physically, financially, career, family, etc.

Would you be obedient if it causes you pain?

Blessings, David
