Here's a different aspect on God closing the door. One that is nothing to celebrate. It involves the door to your heart and your own salvation. Right now on Sunday we are studying Revelation. Just as I did not share with the three year olds that everyone and everything that was not on the ark died, there's a reason Revelation isn't taught to kids. It's too scary, even for adults! Ever read the "Left Behind" series? Sunday I sat wide eyed through the teaching.
Noah didn't close the door of the ark, God did. All through the 100 years as Noah built the ark, anyone could have repented and turned to God. None did. We know this because no one except Noah's wife, sons and their wives joined him on the ark.
God, closing the door to the ark, closed the door to everyone "left behind" when the rains started and the earth was flooded. There were no second chances, no last minute change of heart. While the flood brought condemnation, the ark, at least for Noah, brought salvation. Don't let that door be closed for you.
Hebrews 3:15 Remember what it says: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.”
Matthew 7:7 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
Revelation 3:20 “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.
Luke 13:24 “Work hard to enter the narrow door to God’s Kingdom, for many will try to enter but will fail. 25 When the master of the house has locked the door, it will be too late. You will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Lord, open the door for us!’ But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’
Genesis 7:6b NLT Then the LORD closed the door behind them.
Blessings, Cecilia
