Everything Changed. Genesis 8:20-22 NLT

After the flood, everything on earth was changed. The landscape was different, the earth had seasons, the age of people began to decrease. Since Noah didn't take plants on the ark, all the vegetation died and had to grow fresh. What was before the flood, no longer existed after the flood.

Noah and his family stepped off the ark into a brand new world. They had so much work to do. Yet, the first thing Noah did once he exited the boat was to build an alter and sacrifice animals to God. And that was quite a sacrifice! Think about it, the one thing there were not a lot of at the time were animals. God had told Noah to take seven pair of animals for sacrifice, but still, life was very scarce and fragile at that time. Noah sacrificed to God from what he didn't have much of.

The widow sacrificed all she had. Matthew 12:44 "They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on."

Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son. Genesis 22:2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”

And of course, Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice.

What do you have to sacrifice?  Money? Time? What do you have that God could possibly want? How about your heart. How about your life. How about control. That's the hard one. When you give your heart to Jesus, when you give Him your life, you give up control. You trust Him and let Him, through the Holy Spirit, turn you into a living sacrifice for Him.

Genesis 8:20-22 NLT

20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and there he sacrificed as burnt offerings the animals and birds that had been approved for that purpose.  21 And the LORD was pleased with the aroma of the sacrifice and said to Himself, “I will never again curse the ground because of the human race, even though everything they think or imagine is bent toward evil from childhood. I will never again destroy all living things.  22 As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.”
