If Abram is the Father of Faith, why does he show such little faith in God to provide for him? Well, we have to remember, Abram was just like us, a work in process. As we will see, Abram makes plenty of mistakes along the way, but so do we.
God told Abram to go to Canaan yet, at the first sign of trouble, Abram runs. If God wanted Abram in Egypt He would have sent him to Egypt. He didn't, He sent him to Canaan. Now, it's understandable his desire to want to provide for his family and employees, but didn't Abram trust God for that provision? God brought him to it, wouldn't God get him through it?
It's easy to loose focus when times get hard. It's easy to revert to the flight and fight mentality. We should all remember, when the battle gets tough, instead of looking for a way out, look up. Trust the Father who loves us to provide.
Genesis 12:10 NLT
10 At that time a severe famine struck the land of Canaan, forcing Abram to go down to Egypt, where he lived as a foreigner.
