Judges 6:3-6 Impoverished

3Whenever the Israelites would plant their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites, and other people of the east would come up and invade them, 4encamping against them as far as Gaza and destroying the produce of the land. They left Israel with no sustenance, neither sheep nor oxen nor donkeys. 5For the Midianites came with their livestock and their tents like a great swarm of locusts. They and their camels were innumerable, and they entered the land to ravage it.

6Israel was greatly impoverished by Midian, and the Israelites cried out to the LORD.

“That is, the whole breadth of the land, from Jordan to the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Thus the whole land was ravaged and the inhabitants deprived of the necessaries of life.” (Clarke)

“The Midianites were a desert-dwelling people and they dominated Israel because of their effective use of camels.” (Guzik)

“It is clear that the use of this angular and imposing beast struck terror in the hearts of the Israelites.” (Cundall)

Numbers 31: 1And the LORD said to Moses, 2“Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites. 3So Moses told the people, “Arm some of your men for war, that they may go against the Midianites and execute the LORD’s vengeance on them.

Impoverished

When Gods chosen people, a nation started by Him sinned against Him, He used their enemies to bring judgment upon them through impoverishment.

Will God bring judgment upon our nation for sinning against Him?

Blessings
