Backsliding, drifting away, falling away or a relapse to old ways. We’ve all heard of it, vowed it would never happened to us, maybe seen it happen to someone else. It doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a little compromise here, looking the other way there, not seeking Him before making a decision you later regret.
If I am reading and understanding this verse correctly it says God is able to keep us from backsliding. So backsliding is a choice, a willful decision. Why would someone choose to walk away from Jesus? Maybe you and I can’t image it but it happens.
If you’ve found yourself feeling distant from God, neglecting the things you should be doing, turn to Him in prayer. He can restore you.
Jude 1:24
Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into His glorious presence without a single fault.
