Genesis 3:8 & Romans 7:24 The cool of the day!

Genesis 3:8 They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

Yesterday our high temperature was 96* with a temperature index of 110* and I couldn’t wait for the sun to set, for the “cool of the day”. I had buttoned up a window air conditioner outside on a ladder in an upstairs dormer and when I finished I was sopping wet with sweat.
Later we prayed and thanked God for the shelter He provides and the air conditioners.
At dusk we drove to a nearby lake and sat on a dock to watch the fireworks in the “cool of the day”.

But why did Adam and Eve hide themselves from the presence of the Lord?
It comes down to their sin. They sinned when they ate the forbidden fruit then they hid from the Lord. Then when God asked why they disobeyed, they weren’t honest.
What do you do after you sin?
Do you hide from the presence of the Lord, or do you ask for forgiveness and repent?

Romans 7:24 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?
If you say that you don’t sin, you’d better hide from the Lord because He will set you straight!

Be honest, don’t hide and ask for forgiveness as the Lord likes a contrite heart.
Fellowship with God and enjoy the cool of the day in His presence.

Blessings, David
