So much of this world is in place because of God. Take the seven day week for example. God created the seven day week in the very beginning. He created for six days and rested on the seventh. God didn't need to rest, He wasn't worn out from all the creativity, He doesn't take Sundays off each week.
The rest helped define a seven day week. He rested to show His work was done. God was defining time for us. God was designing rest for us, He was setting an example.
And how do Christians achieve rest today? We rest in Jesus. We spend time with Him. We read the Bible, we study scripture, we pray, we commune with Him, we serve, we fellowship.
We trust. When we're hurting, we trust Him to make it better. When we are worried, we hand it over to Him. When we are scared, we trust He will protect us. When we are exhausted and don't know where to turn or where to go, we place it all in His hands and let Him give us rest as only He can. And He will, and He does, in a way only He can, in His time.
Genesis 2:1-4 NLT
1 So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. 2 On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when He rested from all His work of creation.
4 This is the account of the creation of the heavens and the earth.
