John 7
10 But after His brothers left for the festival, Jesus also went, though secretly, staying out of public view. 11 The Jewish leaders tried to find Him at the festival and kept asking if anyone had seen Him. 12 There was a lot of grumbling about Him among the crowds. Some argued, “He’s a good man,” but others said, “He’s nothing but a fraud who deceives the people.” 13 But no one had the courage to speak favorably about Him in public, for they were afraid of getting in trouble with the Jewish leaders.
No one had the courage, no one would speak favorably about Him, no one would support Him publicly. No one. They were afraid.
I heard a story one time about two men who worked together for several years. They didn't socialize outside of work but had talked over lunch, knew about each others family's and interests. One Sunday they bumped into each other at church. They were both surprised to see the other. As they laughed about how they had known each other so long, both attended church and were Christians, it occurred to one of the men there was nothing really funny about it. They had both failed to publicly support Jesus. They had lacked courage. They had been afraid.
What about you? Do you have courage? Or are you afraid? Do you publicly support Jesus? Do your coworkers know you are a Christian? Does your family? If not, isn't it about time?
Blessings, Cecilia
