John 7 NLT
Jesus and His Brothers
1 After this, Jesus traveled around Galilee. He wanted to stay out of Judea, where the Jewish leaders were plotting His death. 2 But soon it was time for the Jewish Festival of Shelters, 3 and Jesus’ brothers said to Him, “Leave here and go to Judea, where Your followers can see Your miracles! 4 You can’t become famous if You hide like this! If You can do such wonderful things, show Yourself to the world!” 5 For even His brothers didn’t believe in Him. 6 Jesus replied, “Now is not the right time for Me to go, but you can go anytime. 7 The world can’t hate you, but it does hate Me because I accuse it of doing evil. 8 You go on. I’m not going to this festival, because My time has not yet come.” 9 After saying these things, Jesus remained in Galilee.
We've all experienced rejection. Some of us, like Jesus, from our own families. Maybe people have tried to use us for their own advantage. Neither feels good and Jesus experienced both. Jesus had just fed over 5000 people with a couple of small fish and a few small loves of bread AND walked on water yet people, including some in His own family, still didn't believe He was the Messiah.
Where do you turn when you are rejected and used by people? Do you turn to Jesus or do you turn to the world for comfort? The world can only offer temporary relief and the relief sought from the world often leads to more despair.
The best place to seek comfort is from someone who has experienced what we are going through. The best place to go for comfort is to Jesus. His love is always true. He will never reject us. He loves us not for what we can do for Him and He will never leave us in despair.
Blessings, Cecilia
