Joshua 11:1-4 All the king’s armies and all the kings men!

1Now when Jabin king of Hazor heard about these things, he sent word to Jobab king of Madon; to the kings of Shimron and Achshaph; 2to the kings of the north in the mountains, in the Arabah south of Chinnereth, in the foothills, and in Naphoth-dorb to the west; 3to the Canaanites in the east and west; to the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, and Jebusites in the hill country; and to the Hivites at the foot of Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

4So these kings came out with all their armies, a multitude as numerous as the sand on the seashore, along with a great number of horses and chariots. 5All these kings joined forces and encamped at the waters of Merom to fight against Israel.

All the king’s armies and all the kings men!

“After hearing of Israel’s total conquest of the south, the northern kings came together to defeat Israel. The huge army assembled together reflects an attitude that they believe they must stop Israel now or never.

i. All this was prompted by what the northern kings heard regarding Israel’s success and victory. Walking in victory means that we become targets – when we are awakened, so is the devil.” (Guzik)

The challenges increased with each step the Israelites took into the promised land, so much so that all the king’s armies and all the kings men, a “multitude as numerous as the sand on the seashore, along with a great number of horses and chariots, assembled to defeat Joshua and the Israelites.

They are no match for God!

The Israelites were walking in victory and became the targets of kings, men and the devil, BUT God was with them!

Christians are walking in victory because Jesus is with us and as David Guzik puts it, “when we are awakened, so is the devil.”

This is why, on a daily basis we need to put on our spiritual armor of God to prepare for our daily battle with the devil.

Are you awakened?

Blessings
