Acts 17:22-34 Are you sneering?

     22So Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I observe that you are very religious in all respects. 23“For while I was passing through and examining the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription, ‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ Therefore what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. 24“The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; 25nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; 26and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, 27that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’ 29“Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man. 30“Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, 31because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”

     32Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some began to sneer, but others said, “We shall hear you again concerning this.” 33So Paul went out of their midst. 34But some men joined him and believed, among whom also were Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris and others with them.


"I observe that you are very religious in all respects."
Yes men can be religious in all respects but it doesn't mean they have salvation. Were the men who flew the planes into the World Trade Center saved? Did they have a relationship with Jesus or the devil?

‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’
Is my God the Father in heaven and His Son Jesus unknown to you? Do you want to know Him? Then keep reading.

“The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth". 
The one true God. 
Genesis 1: 1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. 3Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
Can your god compete with this?

"since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;"
Genesis 1: 27God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Can your god do this too?

27that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him,.
He desires us to seek after Him, the One true God. Like a father whom lights up when his children run to him when he walks in the door.
" ‘For we also are His children.’"!

"God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent,".
Are you repenting from your evil ways?
Romans 3:10 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one;
So you see, you cannot go to heaven because you think you are a good person because God has declared no one is righteous. So how could you stand in His presence?
Are you repenting?

31because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”
Psalm 96:13 Let all creation rejoice before the LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.
How do you become righteous?
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Do you believe?

32Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some began to sneer,
The sneering will believe one day for;
Romans 14:11 It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.'"
But if you wait until then it will be too late.

"But some men joined him and believed,".
James 2:19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder.
Yes even the demons believe! 
Do you want eternal salvation or damnation? 

Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

If you want salvation then declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your Son, Jesus. Thank you for the free gift of salvation. Thank you for forgiving my sins. I will try not to sin anymore and when I do I will repent for I am weak and can do nothing apart from You.
