Acts 14:1-7 Acceptance and Opposition

Acceptance and Opposition

1In Iconium they entered the synagogue of the Jews together, and spoke in such a manner that a large number of people believed, both of Jews and of Greeks. 2But the Jews who disbelieved stirred up the minds of the Gentiles and embittered them against the brethren. 3Therefore they spent a long time there speaking boldly with reliance upon the Lord, who was testifying to the word of His grace, granting that signs and wonders be done by their hands. 4But the people of the city were divided; and some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles. 5And when an attempt was made by both the Gentiles and the Jews with their rulers, to mistreat and to stone them, 6they became aware of it and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the surrounding region; 7and there they continued to preach the gospel.

"spoke in such a manner that a large number of people believed, both of Jews and of Greeks."
Acts 2:47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Do you allow the Holy Spirit to speak through you, to add to their number those being saved?

Jews who disbelieved stirred up the minds of the Gentiles and embittered them against the brethren.
Acts 13:45 When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy. They began to contradict what Paul was saying and heaped abuse on him.
Jealousy is a tool of Satan. Has Satan whispered jealous thoughts in your ears?

speaking boldly with reliance upon the Lord, who was testifying to the word of His grace, granting that signs and wonders be done by their hands.
Hebrews 2:4 God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
Has God testified to it in your life?

5And when an attempt was made by both the Gentiles and the Jews with their rulers, to mistreat and to stone them,
1 Thes 2:15 New Living Translation
For some of the Jews killed the prophets, and some even killed the Lord Jesus. Now they have persecuted us, too. They fail to please God and work against all humanity.
This is a tool of Satan and he has used it for ages. I saw on the news yesterday an unruly crowd abused people of a different political persuasion by punching, throwing eggs and rocks. While the police stood by and did nothing.
Is this generation any different than theirs?

Blessings David
