Acts 16:22-30 What must I do to be saved?

Paul and Silas Imprisoned

      22The crowd rose up together against them, and the chief magistrates tore their robes off them and proceeded to order them to be beaten with rods. 23When they had struck them with many blows, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to guard them securely; 24and he, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.

      25But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; 26and suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened. 27When the jailer awoke and saw the prison doors opened, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. 28But Paul cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here!” 29And he called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas, 30and after he brought them out, he said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

22The crowd rose up together against them, and the chief magistrates tore their robes off them and proceeded to order them to be beaten with rods.
Christians persecuted for their faith. The day is coming when this will happen or worse in this country. Pray for those oppressed in Jesus around the world.

"they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to guard them securely;".
Have you been thrown into jail unjustly? Jesus was.

25But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them;
In everything praise God. Paul and Silas were practicing faith in Jesus and they had an audience. Christian, you also have an audience. What kind of example are you setting?
1 Thessalonians 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened.
The Holy Spirit was responding to Paul and Silas. Does He respond in your life?

28But Paul cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here!”
The jailer would have paid with his life if anyone escaped. Paul was concerned for him.
Are you concerned for others?

trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas, 30and after he brought them out, he said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
What a testimony! Through their imprisonment, praying and singing hymns Paul and Silas sent an example of Christian Faith. Leading the jailer to Christ!

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you use us for your glory. May we be an example of faith in Jesus and lead others to Him. In Jesus name I pray.

Blessings, David
