10Our fathers disciplined us for a short time as they thought best, but God disciplines us for our good, so that we may share in His holiness. 11No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields a peaceful harvest of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
12Therefore strengthen your limp hands and weak knees. 13Make straight paths for your feet, so that the lame will not be debilitated, but rather healed.
We had six children in our family, three boys & three girls. My father as a last resort for discipline used a belt for dis-behaving boys! I honestly don't know how my parents did it, raising six children in a subdivision outside Detroit. In the early sixties we started summer camping trips with the whole family. In 1964 the whole family took a trip in a 1957 Ford Fairlane pulling a tent trailer around Lake Superior. One night in Minnesota a bear wandered into our campsite, the "boys" were sleeping in the family room attached to the tent trailer which also was our kitchen area with the food and cooler. My father was awakened in the middle of the night by the bear and to protect us he got up, went outside and chased the bear away with a hatchet in his hand!
My father loved us, disciplined and protected us.
Our Father in heaven loves us too!
Will you accept His discipline so that you may share in His holiness?
When we pray we ask Him (Father) for protection and traveling mercies.
Is is wrong to ask God for a hedge of protection?
