There were two other important pieces in yesterday's scripture that I feel the need to explore. The first is in Matthew 19:29. "And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life."
This verse is misused by those who like to distort the word of God for their own benefit. They will tell you whatever cash donation you make to "their ministry" will be returned to you a hundred fold. Part of the problem here is it's their ministry, not God's. God's not talking about money or material things
Also, Jesus does not expect you to literally give up everything you own or the people in your life for Him. That would be against is entire being which is love. He just expects you to put Him first in your life.
So what is the hundred fold blessing? Knowing God loves us, joy in our soul as a result of the knowledge of His love. Peace in our lives, even in times of turmoil. Contentment with our lives, even in times of need.
"God will be a debtor to no man. It is impossible for us to give more to God than He gives back to us." David Guzik
We'll look at the second verse tomorrow.
Blessings, Cecilia
