desires and needs and have nothing to do with the furtherance of the
kingdom of God. There are many Bible verses that give understanding about
how the Christian is to live and go about their day. *Prov 16:9 A man’s
mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], But the Lord directs his
steps and establishes them.* For many of us, we think it is all about us
and what we can do. Whether it is work, hobbies, or even in ministry, it is
what "We" have accomplished. It says in *Ps 127:1 Unless the Lord builds
the house, They labor in vain who build it...* There have been many times
in my own life that I did not seek the Lord before I made a decision or
choice that ended up have bad consequences. I like what it says in *James
4:13 Come now [and pay attention to this], you who say, “Today or tomorrow
we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and carry on our
business and make a profit.” 14 Yet you do not know [the least thing] about
what may happen in your life tomorrow. [What is secure in your life?] You
are merely a vapor [like a puff of smoke or a wisp of steam from a cooking
pot] that is visible for a little while and then vanishes [into thin air].
15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and we will
do this or that.” Brethren, may our hearts desire to be in the Lord's will
above all else, and when in doubt about what to do in the future, may we
seek His heart for our lives with all of our heart. May we trust and know
that our security is in the Lord Jesus, and in His precious and powerful
name we pray, amen.
