Deuteronomy 29:10-15 OLD-NEW

10All of you are standing today before the LORD your God—you leaders of tribes, elders, officials, and all the men of Israel, 11your children and wives, and the foreigners in your camps who cut your wood and draw your water— 12so that you may enter into the covenant of the LORD your God, which He is making with you today, and into His oath, 13and so that He may establish you today as His people, and He may be your God as He promised you and as He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

14I am making this covenant and this oath not only with you, 15but also with those who are standing here with us today in the presence of the LORD our God, as well as with those who are not here today.

OLD-First

“The covenant demand is here extended to those who were yet to be born. Future generations were one with that early Israel who took the oath at Sinai.” (Thompson)

NEW

Hebrews 9:15 NIV For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

As babies in Christ we tend to view the Old Testament as difficult to read, digest and understand. But when we start eating solid food and maturing in Christ we begin to study, digest and understand that it’s just as important as the New Testament! It’s full of Christophanies, prophecy’s, the coming Messiah and HIS cruxifixction.

Do you only study the NT, the OT or both?

Which covenant are you clinging to?

Blessings
