12Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go up this mountain of the Abarim rangea and see the land that I have given the Israelites. 13After you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was; 14for when the congregation contended in the Wilderness of Zin, both of you rebelled against My command to show My holiness in their sight regarding the waters.” Those were the waters of Meribahb in Kadesh, in the Wilderness of Zin.
Gathered to your People
“Moses was first told he would die before coming to the Promised Land in Numbers 20. It was still many months until Moses would climb to the top of the mountain, able to see the Promised Land but not able enter it and die there (Deuteronomy 34). Yet God told him of it here, so as to prepare his heart for the right time.” (Guzik)
Moses was blessed to know that he would soon die, “gathered to your people”.
It gave him time to prepare his heart and to set his affairs in order.
What would you do if you knew you had only months to live before you were gathered to your people?
Hopefully the first thing on your bucket list would be to make sure you were right with Jesus!
