Numbers 20:14-17 Permission

14From Kadesh, Moses sent messengers to tell the king of Edom, “This is what your brother Israel says: You know all the hardship that has befallen us, 15how our fathers went down to Egypt, where we lived many years. The Egyptians mistreated us and our fathers, 16and when we cried out to the LORD, He heard our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt.
Now look, we are in Kadesh, a city on the edge of your territory. 17Please let us pass through your land. We will not cut through any field or vineyard, or drink water from any well. We will stay on the King’s Highway; we will not turn to the right or to the left until we have passed through your territory.”

Permission

“The nation of Israel was brother to the nation of Edom, because the patriarch Israel (also known as Jacob) was brother to Esau (also known as Edom), as related in Genesis 25:19-34.” (Guzik)

All Moses asked was permission to pass through Edom, but what strikes me as strange is why he didn’t seek the Lord’s permission on which way He should travel?

Life has many paths but as Christians we should seek permission from the Lord which way He wants us to travel. Years ago we sought permission from the Lord on moving. I had traveled to look at many homes we preselected but they we all a bust. Then my realtor suggested a certain area so I drove through there looking at homes for sale. When I drove up to one my heart ❤️ sang. We purchased it and planned on selling our home of thirty years the following year but the Lord said, now! We were at church for Saturday night service and my wife mentioned to some friends were we moving and they asked about our home for sale. My wife told them about it and they replied, are we looking at your house on tomorrow? They were and they purchased it. They had been looking for a year but we didn’t know they were looking and they didn’t know we were selling. That’s an example how the Lord works when you ask His permission

Blessings
