17Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be conceited and not to put their hope in the uncertainty of wealth, but in God, who richly provides all things for us to enjoy. 18Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, and to be generous and ready to share, 19treasuring up for themselves a firm foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
Do you ignore those in need? When we lived in Tucson, because of the climate we had many homeless people. They would usually beg at the stop lights in the median. Because of the number of them at times I would look away not making eye contact. One man begging should hold a sign, "Why lie I need a beer". When I would look away I in fact was judging myself. If God leads you to give, who are we to judge what they did with the money? There have been times I gave away my lunch, gave a bottle of water, gave money or just prayed for them.
When we do nothing we become guilty in Gods view as we are rich compared to someone who is homeless. Simple things as keeping bottled water in car for the homeless or going through a drive through fast food place and ordering a meal for them. Pray about it next time you see a homeless person begging as see where the Holy Spirit leads you. Be ready to share!
Blessings, David
