A Good Minister of Jesus Christ
(Leviticus 21:1-17)
6By pointing out these things to the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished by the words of the faith and sound instruction you have followed.
7But reject irreverent and silly myths. Instead, train yourself for godliness. 8For physical exercise is of limited value, but godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for the present life and for the one to come. 9This is a trustworthy saying, worthy of full acceptance.
10To this end we labor and strive,a because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe. 11Command and teach these things.
12Let no one despise your youth, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 13Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, and to teaching.
14Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given you through the prophecy spoken over you at the laying on of the hands of the elders. 15Be diligent in these matters and absorbed in them, so that your progress will be evident to all. 16Pay close attention to your life and to your teaching. Persevere in these things, for by so doing you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
How to be a good minister in Jesus Christ, that's what is all about. Or did you just accept Him as your Savior and continue on with daily life as normal?
Brethren, the world is watching you, they watch you drive, they watch you shop, they watch you work, they listen to your speech. And what do they see? A hypocrite? God forbid!
I pray they see a true follower of Christ! A life that changed, a sinner that repented, a drug addict that quit, a drunkard that stopped, all in the name of Christ!
Now as this scripture says, do not neglect the gift that is in you. Be guided by the Holy Spirit where He leads you.
If He leads you on a mission trip have the elders pray over you, even if it's just to travel throughout your town telling the lost about Jesus Christ.
We are all good ministers of Jesus Christ.
My brother in law would ride the bus throughout town, a ride to nowhere, just to proclaim Jesus to the riders. He would sit in the back of the bus observing the riders looking for a lost soul. He allowed the Holy Spirit to guide him and his words. He did not neglect the gift that was given to him. Do you?
Blessings, David
