11But you, O man of God, flee from these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. 12Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession before many witnesses.
13I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who made the good confession in His testimony before Pontius Pilate: 14Keep this commandment without stain or reproach until the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15which God will bring about in His own time—He who is blessed and the only Sovereign One, the King of kings and Lord of lords. 16He alone is immortal and dwells in unapproachable light. No one has ever seen Him, nor can anyone see Him. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.
After we became born again my wife and I read the book The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren.
We evaluated our life and let the Holy Spirit guide our hearts and minds. He led us to adoption. We adopted a ten year old boy, that had many medical diagnoses one of which was oppositional defiant disorder. We took him to therapy twice a week, went through three private schools, home school and several public schools. By age sixteen we removed him from school because he was only a distraction to other students. Many times we were discouraged, but our Christian friends encouraged us. We reminded ourselves God would not give us more than we could handle. At age sixteen and a half he became destructive and ran away from home.
He was eventually placed in a school for difficult boys and refused to participate in the program.
Figuratively we were stoned, whipped, beaten and abused for our faith, mentally and physically we we're strained but God carried us through it all.
We did all we could for him. We fought the good fight. We planted a seed and pray for him daily. I believe God is rewarding us today because we risked it all and followed Him.
Are you fighting the good fight?
Blessings, David
