Paul at Berea
10The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. 12Therefore many of them believed, along with a number of prominent Greek women and men. 13But when the Jews of Thessalonica found out that the word of God had been proclaimed by Paul in Berea also, they came there as well, agitating and stirring up the crowds. 14Then immediately the brethren sent Paul out to go as far as the sea; and Silas and Timothy remained there. 15Now those who escorted Paul brought him as far as Athens; and receiving a command for Silas and Timothy to come to him as soon as possible, they left.
Berea Jews were more "noble-minded" than those in Thessalonica, .
noble-minded definition of the Berea Jews; "exalted -- of high moral or intellectual value; elevated in nature or style; "an exalted ideal"; "argue in terms of high-flown ideals".
So the Jews from Thessalonica were; afraid, cowardly, fearful, frightened, unchivalrous?
And they came to Berea stirring up the crowds, as they did in Thessalonica wanting to start a riot.
So Paul was escorted out of the city and later Silas and Timothy went to him.
Have you ever been preaching the word of God, the salvation through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit has put on your heart to retreat? To get out of there, to leave and go to another place. On the surface this may seem cowardly but this inclination is the guiding of the Holy Spirit protecting you. Follow your heart and guiding of the Spirit to live another day, to preach the word of God to another. God knows the heart of men and there may be evil in a heart that is not evident to us.
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray for protection for all those around the world that preach Your word of salvation through Jesus Christ. Please keep your hand of protection over them. Guide them, give them the words to speak. If there is a dangerous situation they are in, speak to them and guide them what to do and where to go, keep them safe.
In Jesus name I pray.
Blessings, David
