Judges 20:3-7 Mob’s

”(Now the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel had gone up to Mizpah.) Then the children of Israel said, “Tell us, how did this wicked deed happen?” So the Levite, the husband of the woman who was murdered, answered and said, “My concubine and I went into Gibeah, which belongs to Benjamin, to spend the night. And the men of Gibeah rose against me, and surrounded the house at night because of me. They intended to kill me, but instead they ravished my concubine so that she died. So I took hold of my concubine, cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout all the territory of the inheritance of Israel, because they committed lewdness and outrage in Israel. Look! All of you are children of Israel; give your advice and counsel here and now!”“

‭‭Judges‬ ‭20‬:‭3‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

a. Tell us, how did this wicked deed happen: The children of Israel wanted to know, so they could do something about this outrage.

b. They intended to kill me, but instead ravished my concubine: The Levite spun the story to his own advantage. What he said was true, but he didn’t mention the cruel and callous way he abandoned his concubine to the mob. (Guzik)

How did Jesus handle mobs?

John 6:15 Then Jesus, realizing that they were about to come and make Him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by Himself.

Mobs are forceful, cruel and callous!

Let us learn from Jesus and never become part of a mob because it never ends well!

The Levite was wrong for abandoning his concubine to the mob in such a cruel and callous manner!

How did angels handle a mob?

”But the men reached out their hands and pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door. And they struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they became weary trying to find the door.“

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭19‬:‭10‬-‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Mobs are blinded with hatred!

May we never fall into mob mentality!

Blessings
