Joshua 6:6-7 Unusual

6So Joshua son of Nun summoned the priests and said, “Take up the ark of the covenant and have seven priests carry seven rams’ horns in front of the ark of the LORD.”

7And he told the people, “Advance and march around the city, with the armed troops going ahead of the ark of the LORD.”

Unusual

“Joshua had to tell the priests because what they were asked to do was unusual. Normally, priests and the ark of the covenant did not go with Israel to battle.”

“The ark would be prominent in this victory, even as it was in the crossing of the Jordan River. Israel had to keep their hearts and minds on the LORD who was present with them, instead of putting their hearts and minds on the difficulty of the task in front of them.”

“Joshua had to tell the people, because what they were asked to do was unusual. This was no customary way to conquer a walled, fortified city.” (Guzik)

Has the Lord ever asked you to step out in faith and to do something unusual?

Like talk to someone about Jesus, buy a homeless person a meal, adopt a child that no one wanted or go on a mission trip?

The people of Jericho probably thought that the Israelites were crazy from a military standpoint and was the people’s reaction to Noah building the unusual ark on dry land any different?

But by the time the water ðŸ’¦ started to rise it was too late as their fate was set!

Can you say no to your Father? If He asks you to do something unusual step out in faith!

Blessings
