1 John 3 The Outworking of Love 16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? Jesus paid the ultimate price for us. He gave up His life that we might be ableto live forever with Him in Heaven. Why the might be able? Because it's our choice to accept what He did for us or go our own way in this life. We can either accept the free gift of salvation Jesus offers us or walk our own way. Accepting the gift of salvation from Jesus does have some restrictions. There are things you have to give up. Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But to tell you the truth, I don't miss those things. Blessings, Cecilia |
