3But I have sent the brethren, in order that our boasting about you may not be made empty in this case, so that, as I was saying, you may be prepared; 4otherwise if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we—not to speak of you—will be put to shame by this confidence.
Have you ever invited someone to your church boasting of its friendliness and love only to be let down because the opposite happened? Wasn't the church prepared to meet newcomers? Wasn't the body of Christ loving to a stranger?
We recall being part of a church for nearly 15 years. They always seemed to be there for us as a family. Towards the end of our tenure the church expanded and grew.
One day the Lord moved us to move back to our home state. We couldn't find anyone within the body to help us load a truck. There have been times since we have reached out for assistance regarding our adoptive son or someone else that desperately needed assistance. We would either get a response like; we will see what we can do, I've referred this to the deacons, we will come up with a game plan, or no response at all.
There was no follow up and we never heard back from them.
We have been saddened by this, and felt like we have been put to shame by this confidence we had in them.
What about you is your church family prepared?
Blessings, David
