6Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;
9as it is written,
“HE SCATTERED ABROAD, HE GAVE TO THE POOR,
HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ENDURES FOREVER.”
“HE SCATTERED ABROAD, HE GAVE TO THE POOR,
HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ENDURES FOREVER.”
Lessons in these verses are;
"Sow sparingly, reap sparingly.
sows bountifully, reap bountifully." Years ago you had to grow (farm) your crops for food. Sow is a term of planting seeds.
"Must do as purposed in his heart."
How many times has God laid something on our heart and we ignored His prodding?
"God loves a cheerful giver."
Do you give cheerfully or grudgingly?
"God makes all grace abound to you so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;
“HE SCATTERED ABROAD, HE GAVE TO THE POOR,
HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ENDURES FOREVER.”"
HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ENDURES FOREVER.”"
God gives you everything, so you can share with those less fortunate. When you do a good deed do you share His abundance? Do you share the Gospel?
Just as it is written, "He scattered widely, he gave to the poor; his righteousness remains {forever}<note: Literally "for the age">."<note: A quotation from Ps 112:9>
God mentioned this twice in the Bible. Do you think it is important to Him? Is it important to you?
Blessings, David
