Exodus 37:6-9 Day of Atonement!

6He constructed a mercy seat of pure gold, two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide.7He made two cherubim of hammered gold at the ends of the mercy seat, 8one cherub on one end and one on the other, all made from one piece of gold. 9And the cherubim had wings that spread upward, overshadowing the mercy seat. The cherubim faced each other, looking toward the mercy seat.

What is the mercy seat?
“The Greek word for “mercy seat” in Hebrews 9:5 is hilasterion, which means “that which makes expiation” or “propitiation.” It carries the idea of the removal of sin. In Ezekiel 43:13-15, the brazen altar of sacrifice is also called hilasterion (the propitiatory or mercy seat) in the Septuagint (the Greek translation of the Old Testament) because of its association with the shedding of blood for sin.” (Gotquestions.org) https://www.gotquestions.org/mercy-seat.html

Christ became our propitiation. When we accept what He did for us on the cross, believe He rose from the dead and accept Him as our Lord and Savior our sin is forgiven, covered by His blood. We become justified in the sight of God.

Before Jesus, on the Day of Atonement, the high priest entered the Holy of Holies and sprinkled the blood on the mercy seat (of animals sacrificed) for the atonement of the sins of God’s people.
Jesus sacrificed Himself, shed His blood ðŸ©¸ for the atonement (forgiveness) of our sins.

Our day of atonement comes when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savor.

Have you had a day of atonement?
If not, how will you reconcile yourself with God?

Blessings, David
