Revelation 12-A great sign!

The Woman and the Dragon
1And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed in the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. 2She was pregnant and crying out in the pain and agony of giving birth.
3Then another sign appeared in heaven: a huge red dragon with seven heads, ten horns, and seven royal crowns on his heads. 4His tail swept a third of the stars from the sky, tossing them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman as she was about to give birth, ready to devour her child as soon as He was born.
5And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter;a and her child was caught up to God and to His throne. 6The woman fled into the wilderness, where God had prepared a place for her to be nourished for one thousand two hundred sixty days.

A great sign. Remember this is a sign, symbolizing....

“The woman, representing Israel
· The dragon, representing Satan
· The man-child, referring to Jesus
· The angel Michael, head of the angelic host
· The offspring of the woman, representing Gentiles who come to faith in the Tribulation
· The beast out of the sea, representing the antichrist
· The beast out of the earth, representing the false prophet who promotes the antichrist”. (Guzik)

The woman with the sun clearly represents Israel.
Genesis 37:9–11 (NKJV)
9 Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, “Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me.”
10 So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him…

Israel gives birth to a son (Jesus)
The dragon ready to devour her child as soon as He was born. (Herod)
Matthew 2:16–18 (NKJV)
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he …

“After a conflict with the Prince of this world, who came and tried Him, but found nothing in Him, the Son of the woman was taken up to heaven and sat on the right hand of God. Words can hardly be plainer than these.” (Alford)

6The woman fled into the wilderness, where God had prepared a place for her to be nourished for one thousand two hundred sixty days.” This represents Israel during the great tribulation, when God prepares a safe haven to protect Israel for 1260 days.

Some people don’t care for the Book of Revelation but we must remember it was Inspired by God, written by John and guided by the Holy Spirit. God has a reason for what it contains and how it is written.

Go deeper, Daniel 9:24–27
