John 21 NLT
24 This disciple is the one who testifies to these events and has recorded them here. And we know that his account of these things is accurate. 25 Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.
John ends the book identifying himself as the writer. Several times in the book of John, he refers to himself as "the one Jesus loved". I always found that kind of arrogant and immature of John until studying the Book this time. John wasn't being arrogant and was actually very mature in his statement. John was mature in his faith of Christ. John understood something it can take us a lifetime as a Christian to understand, Jesus' individual love for each of us.
If I was the only one who ever believed in Christ, He would have died on the cross anyway. If you were the only one who ever believed in Christ, He would have died on the cross anyway. If John was the only one who ever believed in Christ, He would have died on the cross anyway. John understood that, John believed that, John felt it in his core. He wasn't saying "Jesus loves me best". He was saying "Jesus loves ME!" Jesus doesn't have favorites, Jesus loves each of us as if we were the only one. With that knowledge of His great love for you, how can you not love Him back?
When we think of the miracles Jesus performed when He was here on earth, we think the ones recorded in the Bible are it. John tells us they are not, there were more, a lot more. So many, the world could not contain all the books that would be written. Some say God doesn't perform miracles today. He does not speak to us today. He does not show Himself today. All we have to do is look around, all we have to do is look inside our own heart. Isn't it a miracle you came to Christ? I know it's a miracle I did!
Blessings, Cecilia
