Judges 8:10-12 Victory

10Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor with their army of about fifteen thousand men—all that were left of the armies of the people of the east. A hundred and twenty thousand swordsmen had already fallen. 11And Gideon went up by way of the caravan route east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and he attacked their army, taking them by surprise. 12When Zebah and Zalmunna fled, Gideon pursued and captured these two kings of Midian, routing their entire army.

“Gideon, continuing in the boldness of the LORD, led a courageous surprise attack. This wasn’t the same as 300 attacking the vast army described in Judges 7:12, but it was still a small army against a much larger army.” (Guzik)

Victory

I have heard it said that we:

FIGHT FROM VICTORY, NOT FOR VICTORY.

Jesus on the cross said, it is finished. Just as Gideon routed their entire army and won the battle, Jesus won the battle over death!

Hebrews 12:2 [looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity], who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God [revealing His deity, His authority, and the completion of His work].

Have you accepted Jesus’s victory over death by accepting His free gift of salvation?

Blessings
