We are born angry. When we are born we are angry we are no longer in the only safe, comfortable environment we have ever known. We are thrust into the cold world, forced to breath on our own and now must rely on outside forces to give us what we need. We scream, we cry and we flail around.
We are born into sin. Over our lifetime we will participate in the 7 deadly sins, one way or another, and probably more.
Pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony and sloth. The 7 deadly sins.
Today we’ll look at wrath. A strong vengeful hatred or resentment.
Here’s what the Bible says about wrath:
Anger can lead to murder (Genesis 4:8) One day Cain suggested to his brother, “Let’s go out into the fields.” And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother, Abel, and killed him.
Anger leads to evil actions (Psalm 37:8) Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper—it only leads to harm.
Showing anger is foolish (Proverbs 12:16) A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted.
Gentle words can soothe anger (Proverbs 15:1) A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.
Being quick-tempered is foolish (Ecclesiastes 7:9) Control your temper, for anger labels you a fool.
Anger can give Satan a place in your life (Ephesians 4:26-27) Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
Be slow to become angry (James 1:19-20) You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. 20 Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.
Jude 1:7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
