14If a man borrows an animal from his neighbor and it is injured or dies while its owner is not present, he must make full restitution. 15If the owner was present, no restitution is required. If the animal was rented, the fee covers the loss.
Animals were a tool used for livelihood and these laws were used to guide judges in decisions of a loss. But sometimes no one is to blame.
Years ago a guy I worked with borrowed a tool and broke it. He returned it broken and didn’t replace it with a new one.
It was the last time I loaned him a tool.
Common sense tells us if we borrow something and break it, replace it!
Have you ever borrowed something and broken it, did you replace it?
Blessings, David
